A day in celebration of our native birch, including birch tapping for wine and other drinks, how birch trees grow and colonise land, making spoons and furniture, getting the knowledge to become a superstar of fire and firewood, and all the healing aspects of this wonderful tree. |

23rd April | The Heart of Nature Connection An exploration of core connection practices with Nature. This will follow the ‘8 shields’ structure and permaculture principles, and will involve periods sitting in silence with Nature, some guided. If you want to really tune your body into closer connections with Nature and see and feel what is really going on – this is one for you. |

14th May | Axes, Firewood and Bowsaws Become really proficient at chopping, sawing and stacking firewood. Ever wanted to step up with an axe to a big log and ‘twack’ - see it split neatly into useful sizes? If so, then this day is for you. It’s a real ‘back to basics’ and learn to tackle any size or type of log day. |

11th June | The gentle art of whittling A real ‘hands on’ day, where you will be using knives and small hand-axes, with access to specialist carving knives. Beginners will learn to make a butter-knife, mallet and a spoon, while Intermediates will be focussing on making lovely spoons. Practising true stillness in Nature is a key part of this day. Once learned, these skills are yours for life. |

Adding Value to Small Woodlands with Portable Saw-milling Run jointly with Plumpton College, and aimed at small woodland owners or workers looking to add value to wood. You’ll learn new skills. Including an introduction to the Woodmizer and other portable sawmills, and a hands-on demonstration of various types of products being produced. If attendees wish to bring in wood for milling, this can be pre-arranged (additional fee). |

22nd July - 2nd August | Summer Camp! Come and join us at our Annual Summer camp in Lower Vert Woods in the last week of July. We come together as individuals, couples and families to make a new family for the week and really go deep in experiencing the woods vibe and culture. We aim to blend a lovely mixture of working with the woods, making things, playing lots of games, cooking and eating together, making music and sitting round the fire ‘hanging out’. |

10th September | Introduction to Green Woodworking. Ever wanted to learn practical green carpentry skills, work with tools and make furniture? This hands-on day will take you right through all the main aspects of green woodworking, including making your own ‘shave horse’ to take home with you. This will provide a great stepping stone to future courses where we will make stools and other furniture. |

22nd October | Conversations with Chestnuts A day of immersion in the wonderful world of the sweet chestnut. We’ll be diving deep into this great tree, looking at how to grow and manage it (coppicing), using it for useful products such as tiles, posts and garden structures. We’ll also look at using the tree for health + healing. Some hands-on work in coppicing chestnut offered. |
